Introduction
Abrysvo is a bivalent RSV vaccine targeting both RSV A and RSV B subtypes, effectively preventing lower respiratory tract infections caused by Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). Abrysvo has been approved for use in multiple countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Australia, and others.

What is RSV infection?
RSV infection is caused by the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). RSV is a common virus that primarily affects the respiratory system, particularly the lungs and airways. It is a leading cause of respiratory tract infections in infants, young children, and older adults. Common symptoms include coughing, sneezing, runny nose, sore throat and fever. In most cases, RSV infection causes mild, cold-like symptoms. However, in some individuals, particularly those with weakened immune systems or underlying health conditions, RSV infection can lead to more severe complications, such as bronchiolitis or pneumonia. Severe patients need hospitalisation for treatment.

How is Abrysvo given?
Abrysvo is a single-dose injection given in the upper arm.
